We took a fabulous trip to Florida a few weeks ago. The sun, sand, surf...everything about it was fantastic. The boys loved it. It was my and the boys first time to Florida. Ryan, being the lucky dog he is, has had the luxury of going on several guy trips there. We just thought it was beautiful, and somewhat relaxing, and we are already making plans to go again next summer.
A few cute stories are:
Hayes did not like the "salty water". He did not care for the ocean, the sand, any of it. He did like the pool and getting ice cream every afternoon. If you asked him now though, he would say he loved it all.
Hayes averaged about 7 times a day with the question "What is your name?" He asked pretty much anyone within earshot. Did not matter who you were, if you were around Hayes, you got asked that questions.
Ben loved it all. He loved the beach, the sand, the ocean, the pool....everything. He did not complain one time. Easy going Ben. Also, ladies man Ben. He was in the pool with two girls about 12 and said "Bet you can't catch me" to the girls and ran. They did chase him for a while. He is already becoming quite the ladies man...errr boy.
Poor Sam has an elevator obsession (it goes along with his key obsession). He worries about an elevator if he has any thought that he might have to ride on one. It is almost love/hate. He loves it but I think he agonizes over it too. Well, he finally got used to it because we rode it several times a day. He said "you know dad, I think that old time feeling I get with elevators is gone now." Old time feeling? Where did he come from?
After lots of sand castles, food, salty water, pool time, ice cream cones, hot dogs and sun, our trip came to an end and we had to come home. So sad to leave the beautiful ocean and definitely not ready to hit reality again.
Bring on the Texas heat!

Sam's Key Obsession Was a Lifesaver
Ryan and Sam went to his baseball end of year party. I was out planting some flowers in the backyard. Ben and Hayes are following me around and talking. I am in and out of the front and back doors. My mom calls and I walked onto the back porch and then out comes Hayes. Then, here comes Ben. I kind of hear him say "oh no the door is locked." But I think no way.
I try the door, yep, it is locked. Little Benny Toot Toot locked it. So Ben said, "we better go to another door." Second door was locked. We go in the garage and it too was locked. Last hope - front door and......locked!!!! We never lock the garage door when we are home. Little toot.
Of course, we do not have a spare key in the garage - but we will now. Thank goodness for my boy with the key obsession. Luckily, I remembered that his keys were in the car and we were able to get back in.
And the kicker of it - both the boys had on their astronaut uniforms and were trailing behind me going "oh no, we are going to be lost forever."
Holy cow! Little Ben is going to age me.
