Spring Break has come and gone. It was a blast and we had such a great family time. Ben and Hayes had a wonderful time learning to ski and Sam went total shredder - well, not exactly - but he did fantastic!!!!
However, it did not all start out peaches and cream as one might think. No, not at all.
So, I used Travelocity to book our trip. Long story short, it was a change of itinerary from a December trip. I actually talked on the phone to the person in India. I actually booked that darn thing down to the tee. Got confirmation emails from them about my itinerary. Spoke on the phone a couple more times just to check it and make sure we were all good. Even called the airlines the day before and booked our seats.
We get all packed, we have a car service come to take up to the airport. We laugh and visit on the way to the airport. We dream of that oh so good airport breakfast we will eat before we get on the plane. We pull up to the airport, say our farewells and get in line for a short airplane ride to a fun week ahead.
So, imagine - and you really just can't - but try to imagine it being 9:15 and standing with a family of 5 (2 hungry adults and 3 hungry kids) with a flight that leaves in a little over an hour and the ticket lady says - "um, you need to call your travel agent and get new ticket numbers for your flight because they forgot to issue them again." Say What???? The sweat is starting on my brow.
Ok, call Travelocity. 20 minutes later I was told "um, we are so sorry and it was our error but we did not charge you for the tickets and you will now have to take it up with the ticket agent right now". Say What and at this point I added the Mo Fo to it!!
Time: 10:00 - Flight: 10:30 - Kids: hungry and bored - Sweat: trickling down the temples
Ok, we work it out and get it all taken care of but she says she does not think she can get all the luggage tickets printed out in time for the 10:30 flight and one of us will have to stay and go on the later flight with the bags. And, the kicker is that the next flight is not for 4 hours with a 5 hour delay in Denver. Oh joy for whoever stays right??
So, 10:20 rolls around and by now the sweat and heart palpitations have somewhat ceased because we just figure that we will all go at 2:15. Well, I was WRONG - 10:26, ticket lady who by the way was slow as molasses, prints my tickets and yells "RUN"!! Say what???? Ok, we run like the wind, no time to even think. Cut in front of people in security and shoot through the metal detector, grab our stuff and RUN to the gate barefooted. Turns out, it was a smidge delayed. SWEET, I think. Call Ryan, you can make it we are delayed. He gets through security and gate door shuts before he can make it. We flew all the way to Denver with an empty seat, Ryan's seat, to Denver. Stupidest thing ever.
Poor Ryan got out on the 2:15 and thankfully connected at 3:15 out of Denver so he was only 2 hours behind us. But, that did not alleviate the stress on all of us from having had that happen.
Ryan has had so many trips to Aspen where something has happened i.e. delay, snow storm, had to rent a car to drive in from Denver, had to take a shuttle from Denver. So, wouldn't you know it, it reared its rotten stinkin' ugly head again!
